Jones boys basketball locking in on season opener in four days

Hooping+and+hollering

As the season rapidly approaches, the Jones varsity boys basketball team is preparing for their first game during a tournament vs. Lane Tech on Nov. 21.

They will be rallying around combo guard Ethan Samuels ‘24 to be the offensive catalyst for this season after his impressive first year of varsity basketball in 2021-22, where he led the team in scoring.

Lucas Barash ‘23 and Ben Mitchell ‘23 will also have many opportunities to make an impact on the floor, with Barash being a knockdown shooter and Mitchell’s ability to lead as a floor general.

Although it will be a fight for minutes in the frontcourt, Sam Obioma ‘23, Michael Burke ‘23, William Ajayi ‘23 and Mount Carmel transfer Charles “Trey” Lay ‘24 will provide needed depth at the forward and center positions.

Guard/forward Keenan Houlihan ‘23 has big shoes to fill after the graduation of Romell Franklin ‘22, but his offensive and defensive versatility give him every opportunity to be successful.
