The city of Chicago has always loved the Chicago Bears and seen the Bears as the top team. Whenever the Bears are doing well there is almost something about it that brings the people of Chicago closer. After an amazing season filled with exciting plays and moments, along with a new head coach and the progression of star quarterback Caleb Williams, fans are extremely excited. 

Chicago is a football city and the Bears are the franchise  that affects Chicago the most. Bears fans’ had mixed expectations for what the 2025-2026 season would bring. 

The Bears drafted Caleb Willams with the number one pick in the 2025 draft last season along with star wide receiver Rome Odunze as the ninth pick. These two draft picks gave the fans hope that things were about to change in the city of Chicago.  Hiring Ben Johnson gave Bears fans and the people of Chicago needed a spark. 

When Johnson became the coach, fans started to regain some life and hope for the team. During his tenure as offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions,  Johnson was one of the best offensive minds in the NFL.

The joy of hiringBen Johnson as the head coach not only brought back hope for the players and for the city.  The team looked like a completely different team with Johnson as the head coach and Chicago fans finally began to believe.

Many Bears fans haven’t been this invested in the Bears in a long time. 

“As a Chicago fan, this season has made me incredibly excited about football. It’s the most invested I’ve been in the Bears,” said Jonah Rab ‘27.

This season by the Bears really brought the city of Chicago together as a whole and showed fans that the future is bright for the team. 

“The Bears season was very entertaining. We started off with two losses to divisional opponents and then people were calling us fraudulent after winning such close games in weeks four to five… A season that was filled with many emotions, but also let the world and the people and city of Chicago know that the Bears are back, and things are about to change for the better,” said Christian Delgado ‘26.

This magical season also gave people a sense of pride about the team: they are more comfortable standing up for the team and defending how they play. 

“This season just for many others has given a sense of pride in ourselves because we know we can happily talk about the Bears instead of defending them whenever someone says they are bad,” said Leonardo Balderas ‘26. 

While many fans have their own opinions and thoughts on this season, it is very clear that this season was one nobody will ever forget from the crazy comeback wins to beating the Green Bay Packers twice and ending their season in the first round of the playoffs this was definitely a season that brought joy back to Chicago. A season people hope will lead to many more great things for the Bears future.
