Jones held its annual Club Fair last Wednesday to a lively crowd of kids looking for new opportunities and friends in after-school activities. For those who missed out on this event, here at the Blueprint we are happy to give you the highlights from the zany event.
First, the Blueprint visited the New Jersey Enthusiast Club, a club dedicated to all tracksuit-wearing, Benz-driving New Jersey enthusiasts across Jones College Prep.
“It’s not just The Sopranos, you know. New Jersey is one of the most unique states in our great nation, probably only behind solids. I was born there, but you honestly can join as long as you just love the greatest place in the nation.” said Club Founder Alan Vierling ‘27.
Club owners were surprised by the great, even raucous crowds that flocked to some tables, but determined to take on every new member, especially in comparison to what they viewed as a dry 2023-2024 school year for clubs.
“I ran this club last year, and it was so unpopular that my sponsor was just one of those decorative balloons we have in the lobby sometimes, but with a face drawn on. Slowly it deflated and deflated, and then it got vacuumed up. And she was our only other member, so this was really shocking,” said Vierling ‘27.
The most recent club fair recorded a record-high number of new clubs that formed this school year for the first time, but the Blueprint spent time at many clubs that have been operating for upwards of decades, such as the decade-old Bing Over Chrome Club, dedicated to increasing awareness for alternatives to the popular Chrome search engine.
“Yeah, this club has been in the family for a while. My dad started it in his senior year in 2009 after hearing about this cool new search engine called Bing, and then his younger brother continued it, continued by his younger brothers cousin’s cousin, and then that guy passed it onto an actual dog who ran the club surprisingly well, and it made its way to me this year,” said Emile Pertruvic ‘25. “We all were really excited about Bing at the time. You know, we just didn’t like Chrome. We really thought that Bing was the future. One day it will be, maybe.”
Heading over to the south cafeteria, theatrical enthusiasts flocked to clubs like Drama Club, JCP Troupe, among many other popular acting groups. However, many students took interest to the new Jones Infomercial Acting Club, a club dedicated to producing infomercials for various As Seen On TV products.
“When you look for a club, you always say, ‘Why can’t I find a club for me?’, but let me tell you that we at Jones Infomercial Acting Club have the answer for you. Call the number on screen now, right now, and the first 20 people to sign up and join this club will receive special information on the exact right club for them. Restrictions apply. You’re not gonna want to miss this,” said Stone Fish ‘26.
There were a record high number of clubs total at Club Fair this year, and what looks like record attendance, and while we at the Blueprint would love to go over even more clubs, unfortunately, Emotionally Walking Places Without Much Spacial Awareness Club demonstrated their club abilities in the middle of the room, taking up much of our time by giving an emotional display of walking, without much spacial awareness.
“Wow. It was cool to see. But it’s also a little annoying. Maybe more than a little, honestly. I think that they are the people who have been making the link so slow the past few weeks,” said Mark Johnson, ‘25.
From Eating a Big Old Sandwich Club to Intentionally Mispeleling Words Club, there was a lot to see and do at the annual Club Fair this year, with more clubs to see than ever before. Students can look forward to a fun-filled year of meetings from their after-school activities. Except for, of course, Finishing Things Halfway Club, as they will finish their club festivities this February.
