It’s been a busy few weeks for Wings Bored ‘26, soon-to-be tech director of the Jones Drama Department.
“I’m struggling to believe how so many shows can happen at once,” says Bored.
He is referencing the Robin Bennett Theater’s jam-packed performance schedule for the end of the school year.
“It’s crazy,” says backstage hand Bound Odor ‘25, “The set team was pulling apart the Twelfth Night set during the closing act to stay on schedule.”
Following the spring musical Twelfth Night, the 300-seat theater has played host to many club showcases and small productions that even director Ben Bug has lost track.
“I can’t wait until June then I can finally sleep again,” said Bug on the morning of May 10th, on his fourth instant coffee.
Shows have been so tightly packed that the theater is rumored to not have been cleaned since early January.
“I have twenty Febreeze sprayers all over backstage–and people are still saying that it’s too much,” said Bored.
Following the Spring Dance Showcase, every single week involved a new showcase or performance, with regular tech hands beginning to feel burnt out.
“I set up a sleeping bag on the catwalk after the Asian American Club showcase,” said run crew head Bina Biteepy ‘26. “It became unproductive to go all the way home and back on weekdays,” she said.
A small but growing group of students have been sleeping in the theater.
“Ever since the AAC fan team trampled all over one person’s bag, we’ve been asking folks to keep their sleeping bags on the catwalks and out of the wings,” said Bug.
All in all, the overbooked schedule has many in the drama department looking forward to the summer break.
“I’ll finally be able to see my family again,” said Biteepy.
