From Nov. 1 through Dec. 22, 2023, the Chicago Teachers Union Fund was hosting “Giving Tuesday” to help donate to Students in Temporary Living Situations.
The CTU with this fund is helping students needing housing aid and all other students who need financial support.
“The CTU Fund is trying to raise money to help pay for emergency aid for students in need,” said Jones CTU representative Meghan McClory.
The fund aims for a 50% increase in the need for emergency aid with eyeglasses, hearing aids, and winter jackets.
“When you or I look at the infographic, this fund raises funds for up to a 50% increase in emergency aid,” said computer science teacher Ms. Ligian.
In addition to this fund, CTU members can donate to different charity opportunities this year.
“They set up a way for members of CTU to donate money. The fund is trying to raise $10,000 and has started this campaign with events such as Giving Tuesday, Cyber Monday, etc,” said McClory.
The CTU Funds hope to help students in need but all students are supported no matter what they are going through.
“The Fund is not just for newcomers in the city, but for all our students and families in need,” said Ligian.
