Movie review: The Nightmare Before Christmas
In the Tim Burton film “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Jack Skellington, also known as the Pumpkin King, is the King of Halloween. Nevertheless, he dislikes the terror and fear evoked annually in Halloweentown and seeks solace elsewhere. When he comes upon Christmastown, Jack takes on a new purpose of bringing Christmas to Halloweentown. One of Tim Burton’s most recognizable movies, the film emphasizes the true spirit of the winter holidays by adding elements of Halloween and contrasting the two. With songs ranging from sinister to cheery, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” firmly establishes itself in the world of musicals as well as animation. Whether you decide to watch it on Halloween or during the holiday season, you won’t find many other movies with a universe as detailed and captivating as “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
