Movie review: The Shining
Steven King’s classic psychological horror, “The Shining,” follows the Terrance family’s move to the Overlook Hotel as its new caretakers. Soon enough, the hotel’s dark past starts appearing and taking a toll on the family members. The movie successfully conveys the feeling of the characters’ isolation in the huge hotel and where it lacks scariness it makes up for in suspense. Although the movie starts off slow, by the end I could not turn away. The film is captivating, packed with metaphors and symbols around every corner. With iconic and spine-chilling scenes, “The Shining” should be on everyone’s watchlist this Halloween season.
