Show review: Inside No. 9

“Inside No. 9” is a British black comedy horror show that tells an anthology of tales, all set in a singular location attached to the number nine, which varies each episode. The episodes range from darkly comedic romps to generic horror themes, and almost all of them have a shocking twist that delivers a sharp turn in the narrative. Each episode is sharp, clever, and eerily unpredictable, making for a fascinating watch, appealing to both fans of black comedy and of suspense. In one of my favourite episodes, “The Devil of Christmas” the story is disguised as a cheesy ‘70s style horror special, before completely pulling the rug out from under the viewer with a last-minute twist. “Inside No. 9” does this often: it tricks the audience into a false sense of familiarity, before shocking the viewer with something surreal, original, and disturbing. This unique storytelling keeps the show engaging and exciting. “Inside No. 9” is a great watch for those intrigued by suspenseful plots and dark humor, but I suggest that you prepare for anything to happen.
