Designated hitter Dylan Spector ‘18 warms up before going up to hit. Spector finished off the night with 4 RBI’s on a single and triple.

From start to end, the cold hounded this 10-6 Jones win. The Eagles started off hot, with Will Conley ‘20 striking out three Lincoln Park batters, and the bottom of the inning continued well with Jones  jumping to a quick 3-0 lead off of a Dylan Spector ‘18 two run triple and a stolen base home.

The Eagles would continue to roll scoring 5 more runs in the next three innings, and holding Lincoln Park scoreless. The temperature only got colder, dropping to around 30 degrees at Kerry Wood Field, and the as the game got longer, the play got sloppier.

In the top of the fourth inning, Lincoln Park scored five runs off of six errors by Jones fielders, the most errors ever in an inning in Jones history, according to  coach Dave Rosene.

“We let our guard down and lost our concentration and it snowballed,” said Rosene, “It was a terrible inning to watch.”

The Eagles failed to score in the fourth inning, and gave up another run in the fifth. The pressure was on, and Matt Savitt ‘18 stepped up and filled the role, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings to close out the game for a Jones win.

“I was a little scared at first but I just threw the first strike and reassured myself,” said Savitt. “I just did what I’ve been doing my whole life.”

This win keeps the Eagles undefeated at 2-0 after a 4-1 win against Lindbloom on March 14, and the team has high hopes for the season.

“We stick together,” said Joe Margolis ‘19. “You get hyped, you stay with the team, and you can stay warm that way.”
